I live in a High crime area on a council estate and my car is insured as parked in bay as that was cheaper than locked compound. Currently a quote today is 350 with 75 access for my 2.5 BMW. I'm looking to move to a better area. But I'm finding my premium is in excess of 600 even in an a band A rated area and parking on drive as there isn't communal parking bays. I know parking on drive at my address ads 15. I can get insurance for 450 but that's with a 200 access. Its not just my car but whole family 3 cars that's 1000 a year extra to keep our policeys the same and my son is soon to be 17 so if its doubling ours I dread to think at 3k it would be 6k if we move. I cannot understand???? I did wonder if its because people are more likely to claim in better area's for damage and roberys. Very annoying when your maxing your finances on a mortgage and to get away from crime to be hit by massive insurance increases. Any facts as to why its doubling cheers

I drive a 1976 Datsun 240z, and I absolutely love it. I had an engine swap (4 cyl turbo) and some aesthetic modifications, and the car is in fantastic shape. Total worth is about $2000. I am 18 years old, living on away from home. I've had my license for less than a year, and have not had any accidents/altercations. I've called Geico, Progressive, Statefarm, etc, and they've all come back with 6 month policies ranging from $4500-$5800. I'm going to pay double, let alone triple, my car's total value for 6 months of insurance. That is ridiculous. I've looked online, and they tell me that Florida's minimum requirement is $10000 of PDL and PIP. What does it mean? Would you recommend it for me? I don't really care if my car is covered. I'll pay for that. I just don't wanna be stuck with a retiree's BMW repair bill or medical bill. Thanks Luke

Im 19yrs old and I got into a bad car accident when I was 15/16 yrs old. It was my fault so I went to court and they told me if I do community service and take a drivers ed class it will be cleared. My car broke down, and i need a van pronto. I am a professional dog walker and need wheels all the time as cover a large radius. This is a perfect time to take the step into have a van. A good friend of mine had an accident in another friends car. It was his fault but his insurance company have said his insurance does not cover him as the vehicle he was driving is classed as a car derived van. The insurance company state that the policy only covers third party cover for other motor cars and claim a car derived van is a commercial vehicle. Even though its not used as a commerical vehicle, The vehicle in question is a Peugeot partner 600 and its v5 doc claims calls it a car derived van and it falls in the PLG class. Is this right what the insurance company are saying ?
